Gathering

Farming

In use

Fields, which have to be stood next to.

What it governs

  • No farming patches: the land itself is tilled, and a field claims ground.Charter, Part III — Gathering group
  • Crops grow on a clock, and disease strikes any stage but the first and last.
  • Fields demand presence, so farmers settle, and villages follow.
  • A field is guarded by its farmer, or by a hired hand earning the first wage.
  • Crops have homelands; no region grows everything, so farm trade is built in.
  • Seeds arrive before anyone understands them — out of bird nests, off the ground.

What opens, and when

The charter gives Farming no ladder and no levels.
