Utility
Slayer
In use
Knowing how dangerous things die.
What it governs
- There are no slayer masters. The skill is knowledge, and nobody hands it out.Charter, Part V — Utility group
- Each formidable creature dies its own way, and nobody is told how.
- Learned by surviving, studying the kill, and above all being taught.
- Tasks are contracts citizens write, like a plagued village hiring a specialist.
- Creatures are run by the world and never think; citizens are its only minds.
- Stranger with distance: dire in deep caves, strangest under the isle's night.
- At the top: rare sea monsters in the two deep crossings, and at most two dragons on land.
What happens today
Killing a beast that stands its ground teaches Slayer, and Slayer softens its answer to a miss.
What opens, and when
The charter gives Slayer no ladder and no levels.
Not yet
No creature yet must be killed a particular way, and nobody learns by being taught.
